The images in Planet Falls are part of my effort to reinterpret the reality I find when I discover a place of natural beauty. I think of making them as opening a door to a separate, improved world. The title, Planet Falls, refers to not only the waterfalls in these pictures. It also implies the magnified perspective of the images as well as the real potential of the serious consequences that threaten our world. To suggest the impermanence of the environment and therefore its vulnerability, I have introduced stellar nebulae obtained from NASA, stormy clouds, or smoke into these images to truly set them apart from what we normally experience. Making these imaginary landscapes gives me a way to envision a better future for the landscape that I see. Planet Falls images are printed in an edition of 7 with 1 artist proof on Canson Photo HighGloss Premium RC 315 gm2. They are presented in acrylic float mounts that provide a window-like view into these imaginary landscapes. Sizes are available from 24 x 48” up to 40 x 80”.
